Overview

Offering and explaining cancer genetic testing can be complex, and determining who should be tested—and when—requires careful consideration. This session will focus on when and how to appropriately discuss cancer genetic testing with patients. We will review the steps involved in initiating testing, interpreting results, and implementing follow-up recommendations. We willexamine the implications of genetic testing, including both its benefits and limitations, and address common misconceptionsthat may affect decision-making. Through case studies, we will illustrate how to select appropriate tests, engage in meaningfulresult discussions, and develop individualized follow-up plans.
